Radobyčice is a village in the south of Pilsen 3 with the Úhlava running through it. Over the last thirty years the population has nearly tripled — from five hundred and fifty to almost fifteen hundred — so rows of new family houses now stand beside the old farmsteads. Flats are minimal here and the overwhelming majority of jobs are houses, priced by area and the number of storeys.
Life by the river
The 2002 flood inundated the streets nearest the river, above all Pod Skalou. The flood embankment finished in 2012 has held since, and no high water has reached the houses again. But cellars in part of the area stayed damper, and cleaning shows it: ground-floor grout darkens sooner and closed spaces keep a smell. Ozone treatment removes it; it does not replace damp proofing.
