Why an office chair is different

The seat and back hold body heat eight hours a day, five days a week — a completely different load for the fabric than a chair at home used for an hour in the evening. Sweat and skin oils soak in, and because the chair is never put away, there is no moment when anyone notices. The difference after cleaning is therefore more striking than with domestic furniture.

Fabric and mesh

A classic fabric seat is cleaned by extraction and dries in three to four hours. The mesh back most newer chairs have is cleaned more gently and dries faster because it has no volume — but it is exactly what catches the dust of the whole office.

Castors and base

Hair and carpet fibres wind into the castors, which is why a chair starts to move in jerks. We clear them — a few minutes per chair, and it noticeably extends the life of the mechanism. The plastic base is wiped; we do not touch the gas lift.
